A Woman's War

"This war will be fought not on the frontier or on some distant battlefield, but amongst us -- among our homes." - Benjamin Martin in The Patriot.
This was extremely true of the War of Independence fought in the southern colonies. Women and children found themselves wrapped up in military operations, either accidentally or by choice, sometimes with the regular armies and other times with the bands of armed militias that swarmed the settlements.
This new Women’s History Month event will explore: How women survived. How they provided for their families. How they shaped the creation of our nation. The experience will focus on how women served their country, whether Britain or the United States.
